Happy World Book Day! What was your favourite childhood book? 📚💕 Happy Valentine's Day! What do you think of poetry? What are your reading resolutions? And how many of these have you read? 💫 Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I hope there were all the books you wanted under the tree this morning and that everyone is ready for a few days of nothing but eating and reading (I know I certainly am!) I'm tucking into some post-roast Jack Reacher (which in hindsight perhaps isn't the most festive choice?) 🎅🎉 What's the book you are most excited to read over the holidays? So the dreaded Covid and assignments have finally caught up with me and put a stopper in my November reading plans... yet what better opportunity to stray away from my usual thrillers into some (quite literally) uplifting lit! This a review of the absolutely hilarious Ayoade On Top. *Review* (don't worry, there's no big spoilers!) Who is that one author you just can't get enough of? For me it is 100% Lee Child's Jack Reacher series... it's maybe not the most conventional comfort read, but I love an easy-going page turner where you know that good will always triumph in the end! Happy Friday! My current read is Hamnet (after a year's worth of recommendations!) and whilst I'm really enjoying it, I must admit I'm finding it a little slow to get into. Maybe I've just not quite struck the gold yet, though I do find I have a bad habit of struggling with stuff that has been really hyped to me (even if it deserves the hype!) So many of the films and books that are my favourites now I hated on first encounter... Has this ever happened to you? My incredibly bookwise librarian mum had recommended me A Man Called Ove on the basis that it was my kind of book - "nothing really big happens but it's all about life." To say it took my heart and shattered it into a million little pieces would be an understatement (I read it on a 3 hour train journey and cried most of the way) 😅
